How to setup Alexa with a Pulse-Eight Video Matrix

Modified on Fri, 19 May, 2023 at 12:26 PM

Before you begin, please ensure the Matrix is running Firmware 2.4 or above

  • Go to the web interface, the simplest way to do this is type www.gotomymatrix.com into your address bar of your web browser.
  • Click "Cloud Connection" on the left hand side navigation
  • Click admin at the bottom of the page and enter the password (please consult your Pulse-Eight manual or reach out to support@pulse-eight.com if you do not know your password)
  • Once logged in click on 'Cloud Connection' on the left'
  • Click "Setup Voice Services

  • Once you have clicked "Setup Voice Services" you will be redirected to the Pulse-Eight website. Login with your existing credentials (or create a new account if you have never setup an account on pulse-eight.com)
  • In a seperate tab/browser, go to the Amazon Alexa site for your territory - https://alexa.amazon (insert .com, .co.uk, etc)
  • Sign in with your Amazon credentials, these will be the account details used when setting up your Alexa device (Echo Dot for example)
  • On the left handside click on "Skills"
  • Search "Neo" and select the Neo by Pulse-Eight "Skill" - it will look like this:

  • Click 'Enable' on the skill

  • Once you click enable you will be taken back to the Pulse-eight website. From here you will see a list of all of your Pulse-Eight matrixes (in case you have multiple units). Click 'Connect' on the Matrix you wish to use Alexa with

  • Login to your Alexa account, you can do this from the Smart Phone app, or via http://alexa.amazon.co.uk/, once logged in, click the "Smart Home" menu option on the left if you're on a browser, or click "Devices" (bottom right) if using the App
  • You should see the "neo Matrix" skill installed, if not, you can add it via the "Get More Smart Home Skills" link and searching for it.
  • Click "Discover Devices", discovery takes 20 seconds. Alternatively say "Alexa, discover devices" when you are in audible range of your Alexa device
  • After discovery, you will find a list of {input} on {output} names, each routing combination can be edited by changing the names in the neo web interface
  • If you hide a routing combination from within neo, the routing combination will still appear in this list, you must "Forget" the scene within Alexa to prevent it from being accessed
  • Setup is complete. You can perform a routing change by saying, "Alexa, turn on Sky Q on lounge" (for example)
