Setting up Optical ARC from TVs via a HDBT2 Matrices

Modified on Tue, 21 Oct at 6:14 PM

Note this setup will only be possible on Neo X:SR, Neo X:MR and Neo X+ Video and Audio Matrices when using Gen 1 Ultra Receivers with an Optical ARC Port.

You will also require a TOSLINK to mini-TOSLINK cable.

This guide also assumes that you have setup the rest of your A/V Setup and that HDBaseT is working correctly.

Your setup will require your matrix to operate in sink mode (https://support.pulse-eight.com/a/solutions/articles/30000045677)

This Guide is designed to explain how to take Optical ARC from your TV back through to your Matrix for breakaway to other audio output devices (Such as Amplifiers and AVRs).

This is advantageous in projects where CEC is disabled but ARC is still required from the output device.

  1. Connect the TOSLINK cable to the Optical ARC Port on your output device and connect the mini-TOSLINK connection into the Analogue/Optical Port on your receiver.
  2. Ensure that your Video Output Device providing ARC has the audio set to output via the Optical ARC port using the devices menu. Refer to your devices instructions for more information.
  3. Connect the device you would like to receive the Optical ARC audio [Amplifier, AVR etc.] to the optical, coax or analogue output port on the matrix that corresponds with the output providing Optical ARC.
  4. Connect to your Matrix's WebUI (https://support.pulse-eight.com/a/solutions/articles/30000043684) and under the Audio Control Tab toggle the Matrix to Sink Mode
  5. On the Zone Attached to the Receiver change the mode to Active and set the ARC dropdown box to Optical
  6. You should now be receiving audio via Optical ARC on the required device.
