Cloud Monitoring — Features and How to Use Them

Modified on Tue, 9 Jun at 9:36 PM

Cloud Monitoring (monitoring.pulse-eight.com) is Pulse-Eight's installer portal. It gives you remote visibility and management of every Pulse-Eight product registered to your account — across all your installations, from a single login. Access requires a registered Installer ID.

Cloud Monitoring is for registered Pulse-Eight installers only. If you do not have an Installer ID, see the article How to Get Your Pulse-Eight Installer ID.

What You Can Do in Cloud Monitoring

View All Your Installations

The dashboard lists every product registered to your account, grouped by installation. Each entry shows the product model, serial number, current firmware version, and online/offline status. At a glance you can see which of your installations have products that are offline, on outdated firmware, or reporting a fault — without needing to visit the site or contact the customer.

Remote Firmware Updates

When new firmware is available, Cloud Monitoring notifies you and lets you push the update to any registered product remotely. This means you can keep customer systems up to date without a site visit. You can update a single product or queue an update across all products on an installation simultaneously.

Do not interrupt power to a unit during a firmware or FPGA update. Always confirm with the customer that the equipment is powered and not in active use before pushing a remote update.

Installation Health Reports

Cloud Monitoring generates installation health reports showing the status of every product on a site. These can be used internally during commissioning sign-off to confirm all products are online and on current firmware as well as regular check ins.

Driver Downloads

The Downloads section of Cloud Monitoring is where Pulse-Eight hosts all current control system drivers. Drivers are available for Control4, Crestron, Elan, RTI, Savant, and URC. Only registered installers can access driver downloads.

Pulse-Eight-hosted drivers are often more current and include the latest bug fixes and features.

Monitoring Pulses

Each product registered to Cloud Monitoring sends a regular monitoring pulse to the cloud. If a product stops sending pulses (for example because it has lost power or network connectivity), Cloud Monitoring marks it as offline. You can also trigger a manual monitoring pulse from inside the product's local web interface or via the control system driver to confirm connectivity at any time.

Finding Products on a Network

If you know a product is online but cannot find its IP address, Cloud Monitoring shows the last known IP address for every registered product. This is particularly useful after a DHCP lease change or when commissioning a system someone else installed.

Registering a Product

1
Log in to monitoring.pulse-eight.com with your installer credentials.
2
Access the product's local web interface — via gotomymatrix.com or direct IP address.
3
Go to Cloud Connection in the admin area of the product's web interface.
4
Enter your 4-digit Installer ID and click Save Changes. The product will appear in your Cloud Monitoring dashboard within a few minutes once it sends its first pulse.
Each product can only be registered to one Installer ID at a time. If you take over an installation from another installer, the previous installer ID must be removed from the product's web interface before you can register it to your own account.

Troubleshooting: Product Showing Offline

Check the product is powered on — confirm with the customer or check onsite.
Check network connectivity — the product needs internet access to reach the cloud. Confirm the local network has an internet connection and the product's network port is active.
Check the Installer ID is entered correctly — log into the product's local web interface and confirm the ID matches your Cloud Monitoring account.
Trigger a manual pulse — in the product's web interface, go to Cloud Connection and click Send Monitoring Pulse. If this succeeds, the product should appear online in Cloud Monitoring within a few minutes.
