12V Triggers

1. What are 12V triggers and how can I control them?

12V triggers are outputs on the device that can be used to control external devices, like turning on an amplifier or projector when a specific zone is activated. They can be controlled in two ways:

  • Directly: Using the STRG command, you can manually turn a 12V trigger ON or OFF.
  • Zone Power State: Using the TRGZ command, you can link a trigger to one or more zones. The trigger will then automatically turn ON when any of the linked zones are powered on and will only turn OFF when all linked zones are powered off.

2. How do I link a zone to a 12V trigger?

To link a zone to a trigger, you must first set the trigger's mode to "zone controlled" using the STRG command with a setting of '2'. Then, use the TRGZ command to specify which zone(s) should control the trigger. For example:

  • ^STRG @trg,2$ (Sets trigger @trg to be controlled by zone power state)
  • ^TRGZ @zone,trg$ (Links zone @zone to trigger trg)

Note: The PZ command is used to determine whether an audio zone is powered on or off.

3. Can multiple zones control a single 12V trigger?

Yes, you can link multiple zones to a single 12V trigger. The trigger will turn ON when any of the associated zones are powered on. It will only turn OFF when all associated zones are powered off.
