Intel NUC CEC Adapters — Hardware Compatibility and Legacy Notice

Modified on Sat, 25 Apr at 12:08 AM

Legacy hardware notice: Intel discontinued the NUC product line in 2023. The NUC-specific CEC adapters are therefore for legacy hardware and are no longer being developed. The USB-CEC Adapter remains the current recommended product for PC-based CEC control.

Which Adapter Do I Need?

9th Gen and newerNo internal adapter available — use the USB-CEC Adapter instead

If you are unsure which generation your NUC is, check the model number on the underside of the unit. The generation is indicated by the number after "NUC" in the model string — for example, NUC8i5BEH is 8th generation.

Software

All NUC CEC adapters use libcec, the same as the USB-CEC Adapter. The latest version, libcec 7.1.1, is compatible with all NUC CEC adapter models.

Known Issue: LG WebOS 4.0 and HDMI 2

On LG TVs running WebOS 4.0 with software version 05.10.25 (November 2019), CEC does not work on HDMI 2 (the ARC-labelled port). Connect your NUC to HDMI 1 instead to use CEC control.
