ProAudio: Locking two (or more) zones together so they behave as one (ProAudio Config Tool)

Modified on Fri, 3 Oct at 5:44 PM

For this guide you will need to download out ProAudio Config Tool available to registered installers at:

https://monitoring.pulse-eight.com/Downloads/ProAudioConfigTool

This solution will answer the following questions:

"How do I lock two (or more) zones together so they behave as one?"

"How do I send volume to one zone and have another zone go to the same volume?",

"How do I have one zone follow another zone?",

"How can I make one zone always switch to the same source as another zone?".

"How do I make the subwoofer switch to the same source as the smaller speakers?"

Open the ProAudio Config Tool and select the ProAudio you are working on, in some instances you may need to enter the current IP Address in the Connect by IP Address section at the bottom of the page.

Locate the zone you want to lock to another zone, for this example I am Locking Zone 2 to Zone 1.

You are able to lock multiple zones to follow the same zone using this same method.

This will load the menu below, Select the zone that you want to lock this zone to, from the list below

You will now see the zones displayed as below indicating that Zone 2 is locked to Zone 1, you will not see any change on Zone 1 to reflect this.

Not all things are locked between zones, here's a the list of parameters that follow another zone:

  • Volume (and volume related stuff like Mute)
  • Bass and Treble (but not the EQ's)
  • Source changes

Anything not listed above, is not locked, notable things that are not locked are:

  • Equalizers, this allows using different setting for a subwoofer than for the stereo set.
  • Output Level, this allows adjusting the level of a subwoofer independent of the stereo speakers.
  • Lip Sync Delay, this allows a delay to be set to compensate for distances between the subwoofer and speakers.

Note: Changes to this command should be backed up in case of power failure by sending the "SS" command:

To do this on the menu on the right toggle the box for "Zone Audio Parameters" and then click "Save Selected"

You should see the Command History update with ^SS 512$ and ^+$ to show this was successful
