ProAudio — Setting a Static IP Address

Modified on Sat, 25 Apr at 12:30 AM

By default the ProAudio obtains its IP address automatically via DHCP. For a permanent installation it is strongly recommended to assign a static IP address. This ensures that control systems, the Config Tool, and any other network-connected software can always find the ProAudio at the same address, regardless of DHCP lease renewals or network changes.

How to Set a Static IP Using the Config Tool

1
Open the Config Tool and connect to your ProAudio unit.
2
In the right-hand sidebar, note the Current IP section. This shows the IP address, subnet mask, and gateway currently assigned to the unit by DHCP.
3
In the Static IP section directly below, enter the IP address you want to assign to the unit. Enter the corresponding subnet mask and gateway for your network.
4
Click Set Static IP. The Network toggle at the top of the sidebar will switch from DHCP to Static IP, confirming the change has been applied.
5
In the sidebar, tick IP parameters and click Save Selected to save the static IP permanently. Without saving, the unit will revert to DHCP on the next power cycle.
6
The Config Tool will now attempt to reconnect to the unit at the new IP address. If it does not reconnect automatically, close and reopen the Config Tool and connect manually using the new IP.
Important: Choose an IP address that is outside your DHCP server's automatic assignment range. If your DHCP server later assigns the same IP to another device, you will have an address conflict and both devices will lose network connectivity.

How to Switch Back to DHCP

If you need to return the unit to DHCP mode:

1
In the sidebar, click the Network toggle to switch it from Static IP back to DHCP.
2
Tick IP parameters and click Save Selected.
3
Power cycle the ProAudio. It will obtain a new IP address from your DHCP server on reboot.
If you are unable to connect to the ProAudio after a static IP change — for example if you entered an incorrect IP — see: ProAudio Not Showing Up on Network for recovery steps including the serial reset method.
